Following from the Cosmic Bridge debut release – a collaboration with label head Om Unit titled Solar Cycle / Merkabah – UK bass music heavyweight Kromestar returns for the label’s second release with a solo four-track EP titled Parallel Sounds.A pioneer of the early dubstep sound, Kromestar has spent most of the late 00s releasing on labels such as Mala Mystikz’s Deep Medi, Southside and Fantastic 3. Since 2010 he’s been busy exploring new sonic territories and this experimentation shines through this EP for Cosmic Bridge.Across the four tracks, Kromestar delves into low-slung 80-90bpm realms while still exercising the bottom end pressure and infectious swing he’s become known for. Parallel Sounds also includes the hotly-tipped beatless production The Outer Limits a collaboration with Team Starfleet that does away with the standard template and results in a deeply unique experience. The tracks on Parallel Sounds have been getting heavy rotation on Om Unit’s Maisonette Electronique podcasts as well as on his Boiler Room appearance. Jay 5ive has also been supporting the music on the pioneering Rinse FM. Response so far has been both positive and overwhelming leading to this release in the closing months of 2011.Alongside his forthcoming releases on the Bass N’ Love label, the Parallel Sounds EP sheds more light on Kromestar as a producer genuinely not afraid to continue moving forward and experiment sonically. It will also no doubt cement him as a producer worth checking out for each and everytime as we enter 2012.
Genre-wise we’ll leave it up to you. Just don’t go crazy now!
